Wiseguys - In tha Company of Killaz 1997 def jam

Seriously one of the best albumsto ever come out of Boston's hip-hop scene
This is Beantown's reality rap at its finest. Was released on Def Jam in 1997 and went out of print shortly after. The Wiseguys consisted of Manterror, Mike McNiel, Tangg The Juice, Rasco, and Main T (shouts to Adge187 as I forgot a few names) and often featured Twice Thou, Cool Gzus, Benzino, and Tony Rhome.

The Hangmen 3 are underground hip-hop, with real rhymes about the street, surviving, and the emotional stress of each and every day. NO SKITS, VOL. 1 is a collection of songs from one of Boston's most respected production crews. The Wiseguys are introduced here as well, a group where gang members from different crews joined together for two great causes: hip-hop and crime reduction in their hometown of Boston. "Holla Boston," which features a guest appearance from Made Men, is the album's first single. Some of the other stand outs on NO SKITS, VOL. 1 are "Follow Me (To Murder)," "Ya Feel Me," "Never Wanna See You Go," and "I Don't Wanna Die."

The title makes no bones about Benzino's continuing feud with Slim Shady, fueled by alleged racist undertones in an early tape by the white rapper. However, despite tracks like "Look into My Eyes," an unflinching response to Em's own shot at ... Full DescriptionBenzino ("Like Toy Soldiers"), and " (Wish a NGA Would)," the album is not all about getting back at his rival. Benzino is a tortured soul with a powerful, throaty delivery and many things on his mind, both lighthearted and darkly twisted. In the former camp lies the appealing dance hit "Wide Body," with its snappy club bounce, while in the latter sphere there is "Trying to Make It Through," in which the rapper chronicles his struggles with an amiable vulnerability. On ARCH NEMESIS, Benzino shows more than just a mogul eager to battle--he's a bottled-up MC ready to prove his worth to the world.

Long before his connections with preeminent rap magazine The Source and his never-ending beef with Eminem, Benzino was a hard-working rapper who cut his teeth in many esteemed groups. Instead of walking away after the drama surrounding his early releases, Benzino took the tough route, starting his own record label, ZNO, and releasing his third studio record, ARCH NEMESIS.

Personnel: Benzino (rap vocals); Freddie Foxxx, Gambino, 2Pac, Lil Jon, The Untouchables, Miss Lilli, Ba Dase, Young Hardy (rap vocals).
