The Half Life series got the shit right the first time, had a better story, better gameplay, better graphics, better multiplayer, and Valve was even nice to package the first one with updated graphics for free. And with Orange Box coming out (5 games for the price of one), you really can't beat that at all.

If Square makes an RTS, FPS, or a music game based on FFVII, I'll never buy a Square game again.
