According to the latest Famitsu numbers, PSP is continuing its rise to the top of the handheld industry.

Japanese gamers, fed up with mind numbing pet simulators, are returning in droves to traditional games and gaming devices. The question now is can anything stop the PSP juggernaut apart from the impending release of the PSP Walkman?

That boost was only due to crisis core, it go back down, the DS owns the handheld market even if it is a piece of crap.

There are more DS owners than PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii owners, shocking really.

I've owned both a DS and a PSP

PSP is great for multimedia stuff, but i never bought games for it.

DS has some quality games. Heroes of Mana, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Mario Kart, Harvest Moon are brilliant.......not to mention the brain training and cooking mama games that adults and kids alike are going crazy for. At my sisters uni they're doing competitions using the brain training on the Wii for freshers week and you can actually win a Wii

I use to love watching movies and listening to music on my PSP until it got fucking stolen.

again, with all due respect.. to me, Pokemon now isn't good, sure it still sells, but the whole Pokemon hype is over. I could never go and buy it without feeling like an idiot, plus i think the games fell off after Gold n Silver

i didnt get a DS cuz i thought it was dumb...then shortly after it came out i kinda just stopped playin video games so i was glad i saved my money

psp over ds? whoop ti dooo... lol... when microsoft finally drops a handheld and they suck for a while then it outsells the ds or the psp for a month whoop ti doo... nuthing special... long term is what matters.

events and releases mark peaks and spurts in a console or handheld... but my question is... if so many people already have the system, why would there be such a needed increase for the system? unless the release was the sole purpose for the acquisition of the console...

As long as Pokemon, and Mario are still alive, the DS will NEVER be surmounted.

LOL at the thought that PSP even has a remote chance of toppling the DS empire.

The only thing that can kill the DS is Nintendo, and I doubt they'll ever be stupid enough to do that.

And if you want to be technical. (If those numbers are true, which I doubt they are), then it didn't outsell it by over a third, it outsold it by a LITTLE over a quarter. Learn how to do basic math sir :<.
