Scratched disc help

So.....my copy of Halo 3 is dead, it's scratched senseless from my console, it's not left the machine in days (so i guess that's my fault really) but i've never had this experience with my xbox scratching discs before.

For those who have or know about it, what's the problem and is there a way to sort it without sending it off to Microsoft?

Or could it just be a one off?

I'm afraid to try my other games incase they get wrecked.

Btw......no flaming in here, i just want decent answers about how to solve my problem. I'm already sending my copy of Halo 3 back to get it replaced.

if you have the limited edition, you probably got unlucky and got a scratched version of Halo 3. MS is replacing those discs if you send them back, or so I've heard

nah mine's just the ordinary one, i'm pretty sure my console done it

i've contacted the place i bought it from to get a replacement but i don't wanna fuck my other games up

do you have your xbox standing up? if you do turn in to its lieing down position this helps most of the time but there is always cases where it doesnt help

Gamestation have a machine the fixes scratchs disc for about a tenna a think

i just tried a CD cleaning machine at my mums friends house and it's sorted the problem i think, the disc was pretty dirty too so it works fine and the scratches are little and minimal

so its all good
