Anyone cop this yet today? Just wondering on first impressions... I'm picking it up tonight after work... can't wait. Didn't get to play the demo either but heard some people say it was kinda weak? How's the final version?

I got it and like it... has a different camera zoom than years past.
Way better than live 08. I just played that demo and that game blows. |

played it today...
slight improvement on graphics overall (they are more refined but they still need to work on the crowds and the players eyes and facial elements so they dont look like zombies/robots as well as the occasional jersey loss glitch that happens once in a while to the players)... alot of new animations (very good addition to the game)... its more of an open offensive game (you pass to another player and they dont stop to catch the ball like they did in 2k7; in 2k7 this prevented movement towards the rim or open spot on the court, as a result of this there is no more lead pass button in 2k8)... lock on d feature is ok... downlow/big man moves are easier to do... improved presentation (after the game you can choose if u wanna see the top 3 plays of the game, individual player highlights for the game, etc)... dunk contest is cool once you learn it... 3 pt contest is ok but can get boring quickly (you shoot 3's in the contest by doing a free throw like motion with the right analog)... its arguable the best nba 2k made for the 360 but time will tell for sure (definitely worth copping)... gamespot gave 2k6 + 2k7 an 8.3 and 2k8 got an 8.5... i think those ratings are fair... |

I've played it and agree with what you've said.... still trying to learn to do ISO moves and such though. It's no longer on the Right stick for 360 and I've read that they are mostly done with the Left stick. Being that the manual is ridiculous we'll probably have to figure out everything on our own. The book is like 4 pages and admits to there being new content and controls... but doesn't tell you how to use them. lol
It's also kind of tricky to spot up behind the 3 point for a shot.... the controls seem difficult to quickly spot up behind the line and shoot. It still is a great game though |

i like it, the defensive lockdown thing needs work tho, when damon jones holds kobe to 11 pts its sad, its just kinda general, but overall the game is sick, its different but better then last years i think.
