![]() Courtesy of a poster on the Xbox 360, we now have our first official confirmation of the 65nm chipset appearing in a retail unit. A user dismantled their Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360, and found a tiny little surprise waiting for them. These new chipsets, designed to replace the original 90nm processors, consume less power and generate less heat. This will undoubtedly be a huge help in deterring the Red Ring of Death issues, as well. The smaller processors are appearing in Lot 734 of the Halo 3 Special Edition console, although that’s no guarantee that every unit in Lot 734 will have the newer chipset. You can find the Lot number on the back of the retail box. Rumors point to Microsoft slowly phasing the 65nm chips into the Core, Premium, and Elite models with each successive lot. --- Damn! |
