![]() Here's an excellent point (kind of) made by a Lucasarts rep with regards to their upcoming environment-shifting shooter Fracture: While a lot of games are pushing the limits of what can be done visually in games, we also wanted to push gameplay to levels that literally could not be done on the previous generation of hardware. Putting the hype for their own game aside, this is something that's been shitting me off for months now. Here were are, more than two years into this console cycle, and how many games have given us new gameplay, rather than just new graphics? Let's see, we've got Dead Rising, and we've got....um....well, maybe Oblivion, and...that's about it. Disappointing. LucasArts: Most games don't take advantage of next-gen hardware |

Yeah I've noticed that most "Next Gen" games are really Xbox or PS2 games with HD graphics.

Agreed, the only real next-gen experince so far i have played would be COD4 due to the sheer atmosphere the game creates. The next new big change in gaming will come from FFXIII + MGS4 imo single player wise.

Besides, you guys are forgetting a LOT of games that are considered "next gen games" PGR3 - Being able to race in the cockpit of the racer's seat with 100% accurate indashes, working mirrors and shit like that. Not to mention fully rendered crowds that dash back when you get too close Dirt - Full on damage modeling with realistic physics that takes Colin McRae to the next level. Ratchet And Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction - Obviously provides an experience that couldn't be done on the PS2 or XBox Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - See Ratchet And Clank Timeshift - The ability to REALISTICALLY manipulate time to turn the tides in battle Besides, Fracture is NOT the first 3D game to have altered environments. Otogi on XBox was, hell even Motorstorm and Full Auto had altered environments. |

I personally wasn't impressed when making the jump to PS2 (since I had a dreamcast). When I went from Super Nintendo to PS1 though, I damn near shit my pants.
SNES to PSX - 10/10 PSX to Dreamcast - 9/10 Dreamcast to PS2 - 5/10 PS2 to XBox - 4/10 XBox to XBox 360 (regular TV) - 5/10 XBox 360 (Regular TV) to XBox 360 (HDTV) - 10/10 |
