Is the concept for Mortal Kombat Vs. The DC Universe as silly in action as it is in theory? Yes. Yes it is. We have the exclusive trailer shown at the Midway Gamer's Day Event, and as you can see...yeah. The worst part? You just know they are going to include Aquaman. I say kick it up a notch and make Aquaman a timed underwater boss fight. Go crazy with it!

Yes, everything you've already heard is absolutely true. The next Mortal Kombat game is going to feature characters from DC comics including Batman and Superman. The only other two characters announced were Scorpion and Sub Zero but it was enough to whip the gathered crowd at Midway's Gamer's Day in Vegas into a frenzy of hoots and hollers.

Later in the evening however, an ugly story started to circulate. According to several sources, Ed Boon stated that the game would have no fatalities. No fatalities? Seriously? Fatalities are what the franchise is best known for but apparently DC will not have their beloved characters torn limb from limb in fountains of blood. Can't say I blame them, but I'm curious to see how such a move will affect sales of the game. Will Mortal Kombat fans be willing to accept the trade off? Superman vs Fatalities: who is going to win out?

Hahaha! You know what... It doesn't sound all that bad. If it's completely different from the last Mortal Kombat game, it's definitely a step in the right direction. It's kind of sad that they have to "completely revamp" their gameplay system though... I don't remember any Street Fighter or Tekken games that had to change anything that much.

Well, you heard Boon; the game will have an all new combat system with different elements like Close... Excuse me... Klose Kombat, Freefall Kombat, and detailed stage interaction. No fatalities but "fatality-like" moves... I'm not a huge fan of DC characters, and you should know how I feel about a lot of MK characters; but still, I'll give this game a chance! Yet another big fighting game coming in 2008... And RGF has you covered.

Did anyone watch the video in full?

He said the violence and everything is still intact, but there are no staged fatalities that end the fight, so you can still rip the heads off people but you get to do it yourself
