Sources tell us that the upcoming Call of Duty 5 game in development is already playable, and currently going through quality assurance.

Treyarch is also said to be the developer, and the title, we're told, is set in a WWII Pacific environment and will be using Call of Duty 4's engine, the same engine on which the upcoming James Bond: Quantum of Solace movie game is being built.

Yesterday, on the company's call to investors, Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith said CoD5 would be coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and DS, in addition to a return for the franchise to PS2 and Wii for the first time in two years.

all i have to say is why bring it back to wwii, im sick of wwi & wwii games..

Will Probable Skip COD 5, unless i hear good reviews, Infinity Ward are COD, without them it is probably going to suck

says there that Treyarch have officially been announced as the developers for the game

"We'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to a new military theater," said Activision CEO Mike Griffith during the call.

The fifth installment of the game is being developed by Treyarch (as opposed to Infinity Ward, who released the best-selling Call of Duty 4 last year) launches this November and will reportedly take place in World War II... again. Treyarch previously developed Call of Duty III, and Infinity Ward will allegedly develop number six, given the franchise's staying power.

Nope, just a rumor. They said the next CoD game is DEFINITELY not going to be in the WWII canon.
