A source close to Microsoft have revealed to Britxbox that Bungie's massive Halo 3 will be released on November 23rd 2007 in the UK and intend to dominate the market this Christmas which ties in with the recent rumour that it'll hit the States on November 15th.

The source confirmed that the Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta will take place for around six months and will begin some time in May.

Our established source told us: "Microsoft had a free ride this Christmas with the Playstation 3 being sold out pretty much everywhere and not even available in Europe. Their only real competitor has been Nintendo. Pretty much all three companies have claimed dominance this Christmas.

"They [Microsoft] are more concerned about Christmas 2007 as Sony will have their production sorted out and will be bringing as many Playstation 3s to the table as Xbox 360s and hence it makes sense for them to hold back their biggest title until Christmas.

"The Multiplayer Beta will be used to basically iron out any problems in the multiplayer game meaning they can launch with a more solid multiplayer experience without all the glitches or weapon balance problems.

"Basically, Microsoft know that Christmas 2007 would decide the winner of this console race and are keeping their ace up their sleeve until then."

As with Halo 2, the rumour machine goes into over load before the release of the title but this is the most plausible rumour we've heard for a long time, even more so than Bungie employees genuinely believing that Halo 2 was rubbish when it's one of the biggest selling games in history.

Anyone know if they will release a multiplayer demo before hand like they did with one of the previous ones?

whole beta is about multi player..also they WILL Release public "beta" or normal public multiplayer demo..ill use the beta to tell bungie whats wrong etc..i dont want some screaming kids to ruin my halo 3 experience..like they did on 2
