hopping on the bandwagon of GTA hate after the release of the Koyaanisqatsi-inspired GTAIV trailer. This comes hours after the Take-Two shareholder revolt that got (some) people talking.
Taken from the NY Daily News, City councilman Peter Vallone had this to say... Setting Grand Theft Auto in the safest big city in America would be like setting Halo in Disneyland. But he isn't the only person up in arms about the release of the teaser-trailer. Well-known NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg gave his two cents about the issue as well. The mayor does not support any video game where you earn points for injuring or killing police officers. Take-Two, in their not-so infinite wisdom, declined to comment on the article. Comments: The most hilarious thing about this is the issue of double-standards being played amongst movies, television, and video games. What we have here is a generation gap that is ostracizing games as a medium yet will not batter an eye when heavily violent-oriented television programs and movies depict New York in a "negative" light. (See: The Day After Tomorrow, Goodfellas, Ghostbusters, and most of Will Smith's movie resume.) What's even more hilarious is the NY Daily article: Poorly written and highly inaccurate. For example, the article states that in the game you sell pornography to children. Whether that is a contextual error or malicious input from a certain activist lawyer is up in the air. As it stands now, it's more yelling on the forefront of out of touch suits who have never touched a controller in their life. via http://gta-sanandreas.com/ and at that dude saying ny is the safest big city
