Thesis: Violent video games such as GTA do not encourage kids to commit crimes.

i was reading that most of the kids that go out an commit crimes weren't old enough to have purchased the games themselves, so parents or friends must of help. parents need to know what the fuck their kids are playing, and kids need to know reality from the virtual world, games are meant and made for entertainment!

any feedback will be appreciated! - do u agree or disagree?

~Posted this in the Gaming Section, but realized help from outside the gaming world would also help.~

I agree 100%.. its all about parenting. I did a paper on the same thing last semester man. Its a good topic to pic. For a game like GTA there are millions of kids who play them, 4 or 5 of them actually commit crimes and they are usually fucked up kids to begin with.

umm lemme check.. i mostly did google searches to find sites tho.\

naw i dont have it on this computer, just search for "video games effect on children and violence" and some articles should come up.

okay, so most of u agree that it mainly on the parents responsibility to know what their kids play? i think that is going to be my main argument

violent games...violent lyrics...violent movies...

all scapegoats imo. Anyone whos actually old enough to play/listen/watch all of the above is competent enough to know the divide between reality and a virtual world.

Underage kids getting their hands on these games is the problem, not the games themselves!

yea exactly, shit is m rated M for a reason. and movies/news/tv show just as much violence as any videogame.

Ive been playin games since i was 4. I aint never done no fucked up shit but got into sum fights with kids my age. Almost everyone has fights in their life.
Ive never burned anything or some wierd shit.
So its parents job to teach their kids that TV isnt reality.
I mean my mom never taught me to be scared of monsters so when I was lil I dont remember being scared to watch any kind of horror movies cause I knew it was JUST A MOVIE.
I think thats a big part of the of wats goin on, parents need to let their kids know whats fiction and reality.
