I'm doing an open-ended survey for my Teaching Social Studies Class.

And where better to get Real opinions than here.

In light of this nations racial history and the stubborn conviction with which some people are known to hold genuinely racist ideas, (both whites and black) do you believe it is possible to overcome the race issue by no longer ignoring it. Why? Why not?

nah, people who lack education, there will be always hate and racism around,, so its hard to teach some1 who dont want to be taught

the racial issue is complex with a lot of different issues. we can all agree that the problems associated with race and the racial history are unique to our society in many ways.

there are things intrinsically wrong with American culture... at the foundation and the core... the very idea of capitalism fosters racism and discrimination in a lot of ways.

but the answer to the problem is not pretending... not lying... not restricting free speech and going after people like Imus who say racially charged things... the answer is to use free speech to have an open dialog and an honest dialog about issues in a manner that fosters mutual understanding.

that is an improvement over shining shit and calling it gold.
