If you turn the light beams, the electrical signal to turn it on would never be able to reach the light beams to actually turn them on. But if the inside of the car was in a time bubble, the lights would simply go at the same speed as the car so it wouldn't be able to illuminate the front.

To get somewhere fast. Or it's possible that it was simply an experiment gone wrong. Even less likely, the car was coincidently at the right place at the right time for light speed to occur.
