Detroit's newest microphone duo are the first Dirtymitten.com Artists of the Month. The Villian and the Ego aka Hash and Marvwon both come from already successful underground groups, Hash is 1/3 of IMAC and Marvwon is a member of the World Famous Fat killahz. On July 18th 2006, Hash posted at Detroitrap.com about a new EP he was working on with Marvwon, he then posted the mp3 of "Suicide Ride" and the message board went crazy about this track. They've since given us a few more samples of what to expect from the EP that has turned into first a mixtape out next month and an album to come sometime in '07. Dirtymitten picked The V&E as the Artists of the Month after our staff caught their opening slot on a Paradime show this summer at Alvin's. The duo amazingly stole the show despite most of the songs they performed being new to the crowd. Dirtymitten.com sat down with Hash and Marv and found out what made The Villian and The Ego tick...

DM:. What made you guys decide collaborate?
Marv: I think we had a mutual respect for each others talents...and we have a good chemistry.
Hash: Yeah..we made Suicide rides in like 20 min. Then decided that we should do what others r scared to do..The unthinkable.

DM: How'd you come up with the name villain and the ego?

MARV: well...hash is the baddest bad guy and im the most electricfying man in musical entertainment.
HASH:Weve pretty much always been a Villian and a Ego...Just on our own.

DM: Who are some of your musical influences?
MARV:some of my influences are big proof,j dilla,royce,fuzz scoota,big daddy kane,stevie wonder,queen....the list goes on and on...
HASH: Big Proof(He introduced me to Detroit Hip Hop) Pac,Snoop,Kool G Rap,Busta,Nas,Pun,Nirvana..Fresh Prince,Dre...i could go on and on.

DM: What 's the hottest track the Villain and the Ego have made for the new cd?

MARV: My favorite is the title track...im quite sure hash is gonna say "white meat"
HASH: Definitely White Meat..Cuz we Freestyled the whole shit!!!

DM: How close are we to the cds release?

MARV: Closer than we were yesterday!!!! lol
HASH: Who Knows...We keep makin better tracks all the time.

DM: What are your feelings on the state of hip hop today?Nationally?Locally?

MARV: hip-hop is dead
HASH :hip hop is just leanin and rockin right now..itll be back.

DM: Who are you feelin in the game?
MARV: I'm really feelin lupe right now!!! his album is well put together!
HASH: I fucks wit jeezy...YEEEAAAHHH!

DM: What are your thoughts on the detroit scene?

MARV: I love it and I hate it..I love it because it made me what I am...and I hate it because of what it has done to some other people
HASH: Detroit has a scene?

DM: Best Performer?

MARV: Paradime

DM: Best Group?

MARV:Must i say it? the world famous Fat Killahz
HASH: I-MAC of course.

DM: What should people expect and why should people cop the new cd when it hits?

MARV: People can expect to hear something that they can relate to...regardless of hip-hop...we're all people and we all come from the same struggle...we're talking about the struggle...we're just doing it with style
HASH:What hip hop is missing.

DM: Who can we look for the V & the E collaborating with on the cd?

MARV: anybody that matters!!!!
HASH: Who better to colaborate that a villain and a ego?

DM: Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

MARV: Anyone who makes good music...OR anyone who signs good checks!!! lol

MARV: Layfayette Coney Island(what up houseshoes??)

DM: Best Detroit venue to perform at?

MARV: St. Andrews

MARV: St. Andrews lol
HASH: Old Miami LMAO

DM: If you were a Record Label and could sign one detroit artist or
group(not yourselves) who would you sign?

MARV: wow!!!!! i would sign FattFather or LoDown from Raw c

MARV: that we're just like u fam...hash smokes...i drink...we're not "holier than thou" artists...and if you have a prob with us, there is definitely something wrong with YO FACE because we COOKIN'
HASH: Support us....I proly spend more money gettin the crowd drunk and high than i do on myself..Jus come to a show and find out..Plus we some cool ass mofos havin fun with the music.
