BET Awards: BET Unveils Its 2007 Award Nominees

Posted May 16, 2007 -- BET unveiled its nominee list for its 7th Annual BET Awards today at a press conference held at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles. Hosted by comedienne Mo’Nique, this year’s event promises to be jam packed with laughs and electrifying performances from some of today’s hottest performers and entertainers.

This year’s festivities will air live on Tuesday, June 26 from Los Angeles’s historic Shrine Auditorium (8 p.m. (ET)/7 p.m. (CT), tape delay to Mountain and Pacific Time Zones) and will honor the best in 15 categories in music, film, video and sports. Nominees such as T.I. and Robin Thicke were on hand when this year’s award contenders were announced. Beyoncé led the pack of nominees with six nods under her belt. Ciara, Akon and Jennifer Hudson followed with three nominations a piece.

Superstar diva Diana Ross will be honored at the award ceremony with a BET Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant musical career, while actor Don Cheadle will take home this year’s BET Humanitarian Award for his dedication to humanity. This year’s awards mark the third time that Mo’Nique has hosted the event.

As in previous years, the BET online audience will be able to give their input by logging on to www.bet.com to vote for their favorite performer in the BET.com Viewers’ Choice poll, which occurs in “real time” during the awards telecast. Audiences will also be able to be a part of the BET Awards experience by selecting this year’s BET Ultimate Fan. Web site visitors will be able to view five previously-selected video entries for the individual who can prove himself to be the ultimate fan.

BET’s own Terrence J and Roxy will host a special “106 & Park: Live from the Red Carpet” pre-show. The special edition of the high-rated show will feature of a mix of music videos, live red carpet footage as the big name guests arrive and special live performances. A post show broadcast will take viewers behind-the-scenes for a host of interviews, reactions to the night’s performances and winners and evening highlights.
