Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 7/1/07

Hip hop’s highest debut this week is the Beastie Boys’ instrumental album, Mix-Up. The album, which features new instrumental music played by the group itself, sold 43k this week. Pharoahe Monch debuted this week as well, with his long awaited album Desire coming in at #58 and selling 12k.
Several big names began to slip this week, starting with the Shop Boyz. Rockstar Mentality slips 12 spots to #23, selling 28k in its second week (81k overall). Fabolous’ From Nothin’ to Somethin also slipped this week, going down 8 spots to #17. The album sold 38k this week (256k overall). Chrisette Michele also suffered a slip this week, as I Am gets bumped down to #53, selling 13k this week (40k overall).

T-Pain is showing some staying power on the charts as Epiphany lands at the #11 spot in its fourth week, selling 47k (357k overall). Rihanna, too, keeps it moving as Good Girl Gone Bad sells 44k in its fourth week (339k overall). R. Kelly’s Double Up stands at #16 this week, moving 39k units (668k overall).
Akon’s Konvicted jumps up nine spots this week, selling 21k (2.4 million overall). Timbaland’s Shock Value also goes up nine spots, coming in at #31 with 17k on the week (413k overall). Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is still a presence on the charts, as the Cleveland rap collective sells 14k in its eighth week (314k overall).
