A Cali chick named Sydney Leung has filed a class-action complaint accusing Apple and AT&T of fraud for failing to tell potential iPhone buyers of the costs involved in maintaining a working battery for the dang thing over the course of its lifespan.
Leung alleges the battery needs to be replaced every year by Apple alone due to the sealed rear compartment, which prevents third-party technicians and users from switching the batteries themselves without voiding the warranty. The accumulated costs of ordering the replacement, shipping, and the loaner iPhone would amount to over $100 each year on top of the three-day replacement process, she says. WTF? Her argument is almost exactly the same as Jose Trujillo’s Illinois lawsuit from July, where he claims the battery in the iPhone will last only 300 complete charges before depleting entirely. He claims neither Apple nor AT&T provided warning about any of the costs involved in maintaining a useful battery until after the June 29th launch. Ha ha! I told you all those all-mighty iPhones were gonna be a ripoff!!!! (Actually I didn’t really tell anyone that, I just murmured it to myself to justify not owning one yet…) Appleinsider.com: Second class-action suit filed over alleged iPhone battery fraud |

Its the same with the iPod. I don't see why they just don't make it user replaceable, its one of the main reasons people don't buy them.

Hahaha, finally, now we can laugh and call the people lucky enough to actually have them and make fun of them for being stupid! Nerd pleasure.

why dont make the fucking think user replaceable, exactly BirdmanJr...the same thing happens with the ipod and you have to send it in for like a week for replacement...that just sucks. I like Apple, but they had it coming, hope she wins

You dont actually have to return the Ipod to Apple to get the battery changed, they just prefer you to do that. They probably did what they did to the Iphone because there are kits you can purchase online to open up your Ipod and change the battery on your own. It's not that hard to do either. So now they are trying to take more money from you by making it impossible to change your battery for the Iphone. Tragedy.
