Kanye West performed a skit at the Emmy Awards yesterday (September 16) mocking his ongoing album rivalry with 50 Cent as well as his infamous award show tantrums.
Along with comedian Wayne Brady and "The Office" star Rainn Wilson, Ye spoofed FOX's show "Don't Forget the Lyrics!" Kanye and Wilson competed to complete lyrics from the rapper's single "Stronger" with the loser jokingly having to retire from show business - a reference to a recent interview that 50 had with SOHH, where he said if Kanye was to outsell him during their first week sales he would no longer record anymore solo albums. Kanye would lose to Wilson in the skit saying "I never win," making fun of his history of awards show tantrums. A week ago, Kanye threw a fit backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards backstage that was caught on camera after not winning any of the 5 awards he was nominated for, as well as being denied to perform on the big stage. West said he would never return to MTV. In related news, Kanye's album, Graduation, is still outpacing 50 Cent's Curtis and is projected to be the No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 this week. According to Billboard, Graduation has shifted 600,000 discs as of Friday (September 14), making it rap's highest seller in first week sales in 2007. Curtis has reportedly sold 430,000 copies and is projected to come in at No. 2. Nielsen's SoundScan will release the official first week numbers on Wednesday (September 19).
