Question Timbaland - Jacking For Beats

Jay-z’s Snoopy track and Jay’s Big pimpin, Missy’s Rain, Ginuwine’s Pony, Aaliyah’s If Your Girl Only Knew, and Nelly Furtado’s Permiscuous Girl, all hits produced by Sensational hit maker Timbaland that we have grown to love. Or were they? An article was brought to Defsounds attention recently where the VA native was criticized for jacking for beats. The track is titled “DO IT” currently on Nelly Furtado’s latest cd entitled “LOOSE”. The track is blatenly stolen says Tempest who actually laid the original sound. The sound was originally created in 2000 during a competition. When asked why havent legal procedures begun Tempest replied “Its not worth it”. Although he has concrete evidence and obvious proof he ensures us that the procedure takes premium effort, countless amounts of time, and most importantly financial backing, in which he also ensures us he has none of. He also reminds of how difficult the task will be in going against a major corporation such as Geffen. So what does Tempest due instead of taking legal actions? The answer is Nothing….except be bitter, and watch Timbo make millions, and make cameos in a plethora of videos.

Now of course we are not saying this to discredit all of Timbo’s success or to say that Timbo stole the majority of his hits, but you have to admit with this sound bit and the evidence to back it its hard to ignore. How creditable is the source you ask? Im not really sure but i think the sound clips speak for themselves. In the overall scheme of things is this really going to effect Timbo’s success? Probably not, but we figured it would raise an eyebrow with our readers as it did ours.

A 2-year old can do this? Have you ever seen a Commodore 64? You're welcome to try, if you think it's so easy. The SID tune was laid down in the C64 tracker SID DUZZ'IT. You have to program the whole beat by hand, it does not come with read-made presets like you think.

I doubt Timbaland has the skill to create full tracks on a C64 himself, which just happen to sound almost like the Tempest track.

But hey man, why not make up your own mind and try it yourself... Download the program and run it in the VICE emulator if you can't find a real C64.
