Alot of cats are saying they have hard times coming up with a good chorus. So I'm here to offer some assistance.
Some of this is actually my own advice on the matter and some of this is info from other sites. First off you have to figure out what the song is about and second of all you have to figure out what you wanna convey in your chorus. What do you want people to pay attention to the most?Structure the song. A popular song structure would be: Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, chorus, middle 8 (AKA breakdown), chorus, outro. The intro usually consists of all the parts playing, the verse would be just the bass and the drum beat, then the chorus should be all parts playing, the middle 8 (breakdown) should be anything of your choice but must distinguish itself from the rest of the song and the outro is simply the beat just playing on until the song ends. Write the hook or chorus in a way that makes the listener really want to hear more of the song, but make sure the hook goes with the verses. The hook should be something infectious and catchy. Listen to songs such as: "Imma Shine" by YoungBloodz, "Big Pimpin" by Jay-Z, "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dogg, "All about U" by 2Pac, "S and M" by PMF, and "Bang Bang" by Dr Dre. The hook is basically the catchy punchline in every chorus. Like most of those songs listed, listen to the way the artist works with the beat to create a hook and do the same with your beat. Look back at your title, questions to answer, and your lists of related words and phrases. Think about the title, hum the melody in your head and try to fit your song title into the chorus section. See if you can use it two or more times. BETTER YET... choose the song first before you look for a title, then find a title you can comfortably sing in the same place where the song title is. Fill in the rest of the chorus lyric by answering the questions and using some of the words and phrases from your lists. A chorus doesnt always have to be lyrical.....a chorus is basically like "crack" it draws the listener....or in this case the reader in and holds the listener/reader. You want the listener/reader to be addicted to the chorus. A chorus doesn't always have to be sing-songy either. Look at MObb deeps Shook ones pt 2....."Aint no such thing as halfway crooks, Ya scared to death, ya scared to look....Ya shook." That was just a basic chorus but it wasn't too sing songy. You should definitely consider learning to write chorus's if you trying to get onto the hiphop scene as a emcee....whether you want to be an underground artist or main-stream artist....You need a catchy chorus to reel the consumer in. Even ya Immortal Techniques and MF Dooms have the catchiest of chorus's so don't think its a mainstream/underground thing. (And while were on the matter.....the underground aint nothing but a poor mans mainstream...stop playing yallselves thinking Underground catz is all true to hiphop...some of them just not good enough to get a major deal) If yall have any questions feel free...and if you just lazy and don't want to learn how to write a chorus....Peep my sig!! Sticky this!!

Jedi Mind Tricks is underground and they're signed to Babygrande Records...Apathy's signed to Atlantic..so dont jump the gun saying underground cats cant get a major deal..they easily can..but why would they sugar coat their music and change their sound?
