'Sopranos' Finale Raises Questions

TheFeed are, uniformly, fans of The Sopranos. We discuss the show on Monday morning, and then sit back and glow in the knowledge that we are watching one of the best television shows in the history of the medium. So, when the series finale came last night, we, as well as everyone else were expecting...anything. What we got was even more intriguing.

However, people are coming out of the woodwork, talking about how much they hated what happened. So angry, in fact, that they crashed HBO's website after the original broaSo, we ask you, Feeders. What did you think? Was The Sopranos ending anything like you thought it would be? Or are you disappointed?

Below are some of our theories as to what may or may not have happened on last night's last Sopranos episode.

There are many things that happened in the episode last night before the controversial final scene ever came, and some of them were absolutely brilliant. Could the cat that showed up in the safehouse, only to become the harbinger of Paulie Walnuts' death, be Chrisopher's ghost? How awesome was it that the FBI guy who had been trying to make a case against Tony all these years was really rooting for him all along, and was a total and complete lawbreaker, who was unfaithful to his wife?

And has anything ever been more satisfying than the way that scumbag Phil Leotardo went out? "Bye, bye Pop Pop," indeed. Bye bye to the structural integrity of your skull.

And then there was the ending. Fade to black. The Soprano family gathered for a family dinner in a restaurant booth, in a scene that nearly everyone in the universe thought would end in a bloodbath. So, what happened? Fade to black. Ambiguity. Certainly, nothing good was going to happen next to the Soprano clan. No matter what transpired from that point forward, Tony had built a hell from which it was impossible to escape.

Look at it this way. Either he died in the very next moment, as the place was crawling with suspicious characters, or he was arrested, since Carlo filpped and was testifying against everyone in the family, or he lived and had to look over his shoulder at every possible moment. And even if he lived, would he end up shot and in a coma like Silvio Dante? Or old and derepit like Uncle Junior?

His wife hates him. One of his kids resents him and is marrying a man who is prosecuting a case in which he is intimately involved. The other is completely insane, and has become a whiny development executive who he will have to carry for the rest of his life. So, even if he lives, how is his life gonna be?

And then, of course, there's a theory that all of this is building up to a movie in the future. We don't think that's going to happen. James Gandolfini has made it clear he's done playing Tony Soprano, no matter how much money you throw at him.

Nope, you're going to have to live with the ending you got, which I happen to think is pretty brilliant.

1) the show was from his perspective
2) he once was asked what happens when u die, and he said "it just turns black"
3) he also said you never hear the one that gets you, thats why you didnt hear a gunshot

No, it was 3rd person. There are plenty of scenes when Tony is not present.

i believe this is what happened.

Tony had a flashback in the second to last episode about Bobby talking about getting shot to death, saying "I bet you don't even hear it" So in the dinner scene the last thing Tony heard was the bell from the door, that at that moment the man that went to the bathroom, which was in Tony's blindspot shot Tony, probably in the head, causing instant death. Tony didn't hear anything and everything just went black. just my theory though.
