I know we have a lot of car enthusiasts here, so just wanted to see what everyone's personal preference was. I honestly like tiptronic, because even if it does seem like a cheap manual rip-off, I find it to be a pretty good compromise between manual and full auto.

Well you got a great car in terms of manual transmission. I didn't drive his Evo myself, but my cuz seemed to shift pretty smoothly. My primary experience with manual is in a Volkswagon GTI.....not exactly the best tranny out there so I'm glad the GTI has paddle shifters now. From a strict performance aspect:
dual-clutch transmissions = the future imo

Learnt to drive in a manual and got used to driving them since we had no automatics in my family, driving an auto bores me..

If you guys haven't driven tiptronic, there's basically two types. Paddle shifting is pretty obvious you just tap the right pedal to shift up and tap the left to shift down. My car uses the old-school shifter but it only goes up and down (some manufacturers do it side to side). Think of it as sequential manual where you can't skip gears, only go one by one.

triptonic is really good fun, i had a loan car one time, 6 speed triptonic, and that shit is fun as hell pinning it in a straight line slappin just up or down for each gear
![]() the evo box/clutch are hard as fuck, 1st to 2nd can be a problem if you dont line it up right |
