Car technology discussion
I noticed that many people nowadays think that technology is ruining the racing spirit and the track credibility of sports cars. I first starting noticing this when Dodge Viper owners mocked Z06 owners for owning "women" cars. The Corvette (especially the C5 and C6) began to carry an addition of technological advancements such as traction control and carbon fiber to help overtake the Viper. While many considered the new Z06 to be an engineering marvel, the GT-R came out and the world turned their attention to it. Every review I've read stated that it was incredibly easy to drive due to launch control, ATTESA set-up, etc. Now I'm seeing Corvette owners claiming that the GT-R is a joke because it's technology drives the car for it. They're pretty much taking what the Viper owner's club told them and throwing at the new competition. I understand that Porsche is designing the new 998 Turbo to target the Nissan GT-R specifically. If the Japanese Godzilla gets beaten, will their owners blame Porsche for using too much technology?
Why are we even blaming automotive advancements in the first place? How much technology is too much? What fall under the definition of having a car "drive itself"? Let's discuss this.
