Default Just got my car tonight....

got back an hour ago, but i couldnt find the camera cuz some irresponsible fuck in my house misplaced it....which was me... might have to resort to cell pics or even gayer, a disposable camera, but whatever i gotta do to get pics on here and other car forums..

what i got was an '08 BMW 535xi
Black Sapphire Metallic
Black Dakota Leather
Premium and Winter Package, no Sport because there were no more in this color and leather
Sat. Nav.
the whole iPod USB adapter crap
the Rims are standard, but they still look mean... I was worried they'd look small and puny, but it's quite the contrary

that's it? I didn't get the heads up display, or the assisted cruise control or lane departure stuff. That crap is kinda retarded. You must be a real shitty driver to not know you're about to hit a guardrail or another car. So I settled for what I needed. Really was hoping for that sport package though, I kinda wanted paddle shifters, but oh well, I got what I wanted so I'm not complaining.

Like I said, I'll have pics up soon, probably tomorrow when I can get my hands on a camera.

EDIT: Here's the first of the many I took. Too bad my bud's camera only saved one of em. He needed the cam back for a bit, but I'll get it back soon again and post the rest up.. I know it ain't much, but...

EDIT: Here they are, my bud finally found some time to come over and take some pics and another bud's house. Whatever, it works.

My buddy inside of it. Tellin' people it's his.

It was a little over $61k, but I kinda sweet-talked the dealer into some extras, like Sirius satellite and all-weather mats, almost a grand worth of free shit.

Well, it's like this, the base price for an M3 is about 4 grand more, which isn't a problem for me. It was the versatility of the 5er. The 3 series is nice and all, but a 335i or even the slightly bulkier xi could give you M3-esque performance with two fewer cylinders and a couple grand less. The M3 is to the 335 what the 550i is to the 535i/xi, not much more performance for 10 grand more. And with dealership markup, I saw one on the showroom floor, although a convertible, for 68k and it didn't even have all the options and was manual, meaning an auto tranny was a couple hundred more and the rest of the packages on it were gonna put it well into the mid-70k.

I'm prolly gonna keep this car for another 10+ years, or even further if it's still going (of course it will, but it's just an estimate though), and having an M3 for 10 years would mean I would have to buy another car because it would be too small by then. Sad to think about family now, but the 5er just seemed to be the best choice. I was looking for a replacement for my ES300, and i doubt an M3 or any kinda of small sedan or coupe would have done the job. A 0-60 in 5.6 ain't bad though. Been driving it everywhere today and been getting looks, especially at the Portillo's drive-thru . Ah well, I'm not doing it to rub it in anyone I know's face so karma shouldn't fuck me anytime soon.

And I'll get pics soon, I swear. This weekend I'll do something about it.

It can be driven manually as well. I can drive manual, however people laugh when I say this, but driving manual requires too much "thinking" on my part. I enjoy just driving and not having to worry to switch gears or over revving, etc. Also, the fuel economy goes down by an average of 2 mpg, and with me it would be more like a decrease in 4 or so just because I leave it in gears longer. Also it being AWD doesn't help the fuel economy much, so I figured I would just stop there. Like I mentioned earlier, the Sports Package would have been nice, with a sportier tranny and then paddle shifters.
