2010 Hyundai Tiburon / Veloster and Genesis Coupe

My buddy in an 06 or 07 Sonata just challenged my 535 today. I had to remind him his 285 horses were on an engine that was designed to thrive as an NA and turbo would be nice, but if BMW were to do something similar, like the 530i which had no turbo, they would still kick the shit out of a Sonata. Some people just get jealous without you doing anything to deliberately irritate their insecurities.

Do you get high-end luxury for the Genesis's price range? No. Hyundai is the poor man's luxury car. You can try and act like you're a sensible buyer by taking the cheaper car with the same options, but Hyundai will not do to the Germans what the Lexus did. Not to mention Hyundai's look like shit and the only reason they sell is because of gas mileage. Which means the Elantra and Sonata and maybe the SUV shit they throw out there, but they don't have everything their competitors have for less. Hyundais don't turn heads, they have no performance relative to the competition. It's just fool's gold made to look like the competitors which is why it costs less. Why aren't you buying a Tiburon instead of a G37? It's the same thing for half the price. Hyundai makes good cars, right? Get it.

Using Grahf's logic, it would be. You didn't catch the sarcasm. Grahf was mad people buy more expensive cars for "prestige" and overlook cars like the Genesis. The Genesis is in the same class as a 5-Series, an E-Class, and a GS450. He claimed the Genesis had the same, if not better interior, similar performance as was therefore the better buy,. We went on for pages, I said the Genesis was a rip off of a bunch of different competitor's cars as far as the exterior went, and while the interior might be decent, there's a reason a BMW, Lexus, and Benz cost more.

With that being said, he said he was getting a G37, so now I proposed, why doesn't he get a Tiburon because he claimed people were "stupid" for buying more expensive cars that were the same or less than the less expensive ones with a different badge. A Tiburon is a two door coupe, 10K or more cheaper than a G37, has the same luxury amenities as a G37, yet he's overlooking the very brand he was dickriding, saying Hyundai has become a "decent" car manufacturer. Ok. That's awesome. Does that mean that I'm in the market for a luxury sedan, I go for a Genesis? Apparently it does, so now I use his logic against him. He is or will be in the market for a two door luxury coupe, what's wrong with the Tiburon? I'm trying to show him his hypocrisy.
