Players Leaving NCAAB for NBA
The 6-foot-8, 205-pound Adam Morrison will make the announcement at a news conference on Wednesday at 2 p.m. PT.
Morrison is considered a top 5 pick in June's NBA Draft by several NBA executives and will sign with Chicago-based agent Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports. Morrison finished second to Duke's J.J. Redick for National Player of the Year honors after averaging 28.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this past season. He scored 24 points in the Zags season-ending loss to UCLA in the Sweet 16. Connecticut sophomore Rudy Gay will bypass his final two seasons. LSU freshman Tyrus Thomas also declared his intent to go pro Monday. Thomas, a redshirt freshman who boosted his stock as much as anyone's in the NCAA tournament, will enter the NBA draft and, according to sources close to the situation, will sign with an agent. According to one NBA executive, Thomas is a virtual lock to be selected in the top 10 and could be the top player selected in the draft. It's no surprise that Gay, a 6-foot-8 forward, will leave since he has long been expected to be a certain lottery pick. He averaged 15.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this past season and is also likely to sign with an agent, which would end any chance to return to UConn. "When you're hot, you're hot," Thomas said of his decision, which comes just three weeks after he and Davis helped the Tigers make the Final Four. ------------------------- Just an update
