WARNING! This is not short but it makes sense, I promise you.
I've noticed recently that the Kobe & MJ comparisons are running rampant across this board. I am a huge MJ fan and I'll say in a minute that he's the best of all-time.......FOR NOW! That doesn't mean some other young whippasnappa will come along and take his spot if it hasn't happened already (LBJ, KOBE, Durant?). Before MJ came into the league Dr. J and Oscar Robertson were considered the greatest. As we all know MJ surpassed them in americas hearts & minds. My father and your's as well will probably say Dr. J or somebody else was the baddest motherfucka ever played and their mind will never change. Most of my generation that grew up during the 90's will say Jordan was the shit and that won't change. I'm not like that, I know one day MJ will be surpassed, it's a part of life and sports. The so-called "passing of the torch". But there is one simple reason these comaprisons will not die and here it is..... HE WAS THE FIRST! That says it all. He was the first to possess his level of athleticism, grace, artistry, killer-instinct, competitiveness, talent, IQ, will to win, marketability, earning power, householdness (white people liking you), and everything else a great player is made of, all wrapped into one individual. Because he's the first people will never forget him and it's sad to say even if someone passes him in championships, MVP's, talent and everything else it will NEVER BE ENOUGH because they are fighting ghosts, they will never win. In hip-hop 2Pac & Biggie are always brought up when considering the best, they are no longer active in music so all you have to go on is what they left behind. So any one who is more passionate, flows better, or makes better music will never surpass them because they're ghosts, it's an un-winnable fight. The same concept applies to Jordan; He's no longer active so all we have is memories, therefore figuratively speaking he is a ghost as well (He' can't lace em up and beat a nigga one on one--he's too old). Anybody coming up in the NBA who is better than MJ in talent and appeal won't win in public opinion as being the best because they are fighting a ghost who happened to be the 1st of his kind. I'm not biased against Kobe because I do think talent-wise he is equal to MJ if not better but it's not what we think, it's about what the world thinks and the media because they will always have the last word. Let me know your thoughts and opinions on this entry, does it make sense?

i agree a 100 percent of what you said. Not only was Micheal great solid player all around the court, but off the court as well. I mean people can say stats, sure stats are final they are printed so you cant deny Kobe or lebron or whatever can have the same amount of stats as Micheal, but i feel they do not have the charisma and all around solid game like Micheal had. Which is why , i feel Kobe will fail on surpassing him. Kobe is one of the most talented people in the nba , dont get me wrong, but if Micheal has the same team Kobe has, they wouldnt have as much trouble as he is having. Even with all the talent today around. Also Micheal was consistent almost every game EVEN in the playoff, something Lebron needs to work on. Even Kobe has too many inconsistent days to compare.
Jordon also like you said won the hearts of America , which made money for the NBA, Which was why he was able to walk a lot , and i mean a lot lol, but fuck it who is gonna make that call its Micheal Jordon and he was the NBA at his prime. |

Nice, agree with the op,this is from the mj poster i have
When people said all he could do was dunk, he broke down his game and added upper body strength, until he hurt them from all over the court. When they said he could never lead the league in scoring and be a defensive stopper, he won the scoring title and was voted defensive player of the year. When people said he would never win a title, he won six
