He was the focus of the pistons. The pistons planned their D to stop him and he's inexperienced so of course he's gonna be stopped. Deng is really not even the go to guy on the bulls.

Williams trade being explored

Quote:
"Milwaukee Bucks guard Mo Williams could be headed to Cleveland as part of a three-team trade, with the Bucks targeting point guard Luke Ridnour of the Oklahoma City franchise, formerly the Seattle SuperSonics. NBA sources confirmed that there had been discussions involving the three teams. Cleveland is searching for backcourt help to complement LeBron James, and Williams could fit the bill. But Williams carries a hefty price tag with five years and $43 million left on the $51 million contract the point guard signed with the Bucks before last season, when he was an unrestricted free agent. Cleveland had some interest in Williams last summer, and the Miami Heat made him an offer, but he ..."
GM on Iguodala: 'No deal yet'

Quote:
"E-MAIL IS a wonderful thing. Responses to questions can be ever so brief, so concise. The question to 76ers president/general manager Eddie Stefanski was: Could he confirm the ESPN.com report that guard/forward Andre Iguodala, a restricted free agent, had agreed to the terms of a 6-year, $80 million contract."Nothing to report from our side,'' Stefanski replied. That was it. All of it.Later, in Los Angeles on vacation, he was interviewed by Tom McCarthy, of the Phillies' broadcast team, during the Phils-Dodgers game. When asked about Iguodala, he said, "Right now we're still negotiating. I hope it comes to fruition, but there's no deal yet.''Stefanski has said since the conclusion of last ..."
Gordon doesn't think he'll return to Bulls

Quote:
"Ben Gordon believes he and the Bulls are about to part ways. But unless the Bulls have a trade in the making, it's unlikely he'll be able to leave because Gordon can't force a move as a restricted free agent. "Right now, honestly, it doesn't look like it," Gordon told the Hartford Courant about returning to the Bulls for a fifth season. ``I think a decision is going to be made soon. I've had a great time [with the Bulls]. I was fortunate enough to play on a team that made the playoffs. I led the team in scoring three of the four seasons I've been here. It's been a good experience, but we haven't been able to come to any common ground. It's just part of the business. You have to do what you ..."
Boozer not ruling out European offers

Quote:
"With big-bucks, multi-year deals recently drawing NBA players like Josh Childress and Carlos Arroyo to play international ball overseas, could Carlos Boozer be drawn away by foreign interests?

Boozer, who is eligible to opt out of the final season of his six-year, $68-million contract next offseason, said he would be open to all offers - including with a foreign team.

"As a business decision, we definitely would have to look at it," said Boozer, in Beijing as a second-time Olympian. "But it doesn't mean that you're on the next flight out."

He said he would "absolutely" consider the possibility, "if my wife was down with it and the money was right.""

Bowen confirms he's staying with Hornets

Quote:
"The Hornets might lose a backup point guard, but they're retaining an energy bench player for the upcoming season. A league source confirmed Saturday night that forward Ryan Bowen has re-signed with the team. Bowen told an Iowa newspaper that he had signed a one-year deal to return to the Hornets after playing in 53 games last season. He averaged 2.2 points and 1.9 rebounds last season. Bowen also appeared in nine of the Hornets' 12 playoff games. "I think they've showed that they want to keep improving, with the commitment they showed Chris Paul (a three-year extension) and by adding James Posey, who has won a couple of titles and will make us better," Bowen told The (Burlington) ..."
Dragic not out of picture

Quote:
"Each time Goran Dragic speaks publicly overseas, his chances of joining the Suns this season sound as distant as the voice on an international call. The Suns hope the point guard's actions ultimately speak louder than his recent words. Despite a second round of Dragic comments professing he will play this year in Europe, Dragic's camp and his Spanish club, Tau Ceramica, continue to talk about an early contract buyout that would free him to move to Phoenix. Dragic, 22, recently was leaving the offices of his past Slovenian pro club when he made comments that reporters in his native country took to mean he would play for Tau this season. The quotes, picked up and translated to Spanish for ..."
Dan Dickau Signs With Italian League Club

Quote:
"Avellino signed veteran point guard Dan Dickau to be its starting playmaker, the club announced Tuesday. Dickau (183, 29) will make his Euroleague debut with Avellino, which is also playing in Europe's top club competition for the first time. He arrives from the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA, where he averaged 5.3 points and 2.6 assists in 67 games last season. Overall he has appeared in 300 NBA regular season games with six different teams over the past six seasons. His best individual season came with New Orleans in the 2004-05 seasons when he averaged 12.2 points and 5.2 assists in 67 appearances. "Our aim was to find a player that could make a difference and dictate the tempo of our ..."

Lakers sign free-agent forward Josh Powell

Quote:
"The Lakers signed free agent forward Josh Powell on Thursday. Terms of the contract were not released. The 6-foot-9 Powell, a three-year NBA veteran, spent last season with the Clippers, averaging 5.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 64 games. After going undrafted in 2003, Powell spent two seasons overseas, where he played in both the Italian and Russian basketball leagues. Prior to the 2005-06 season, Powell was signed as a free agent by the Dallas Mavericks where he averaged 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 37 games."
Suns sign forward Amundson

Quote:
"The Suns never were mistaken as the toughest team but this summer's moves aim to at least create a bench with an edge. The Suns continued a toughening theme Thursday, signing 25-year-old power forward Louis Amundson to bring energy and defense to the bench. Amundson, who is 6 feet 9 and 225 pounds, is fully guaranteed for 2008-09 on a minimum deal worth $711,517. The Suns hold a team option to bring him back for 2009-10. "I'm a high-energy, athletic player who can run the floor," Amundson said after working out Thursday with new teammates Boris Diaw and D.J. Strawberry. "I take pride in my defense. I like to get in there and change the game with my athleticism." A Suns makeover began in ..."
Marbury Eyes Milan

Quote:
"Last summer, Stephon Marbury vowed hewould play in Italy after his Knick contract expired after 2009. At the time, many scoffed at the farfetched notion. But Marbury's desires have now become the trend, with nine NBA players signing with European or Israeli clubs since July 1's free agency. While Marbury plans to play in the NBA this season - with the Knicks or another club if released - he still has plans of an Italian career. In fact, Marbury told The Post he will play as soon as next season, specifically aiming to join Milan. He'll have connections. Mike D'Antoni coached Milan in the 1990's and first-rounder Danilo Gallinari played for Milan the past two seasons. "People just didn't ..."
Pargo to play in Russia

Quote:
"New Orleans Hornets free agent guard Jannero Pargo, a valued sixth man, has reached an agreement in principle with Moscow Dynamo on a one-year contract worth about $4 million, sources close to the negotiations told Yahoo! Sports. Some details still needed to be worked out Friday before the contract could be finalized, but sources said there were no hurdles left that should jeopardize the deal. Once again, an American-born player with options in the NBA has chosen to take a more lucrative offer overseas. Pargo is the second NBA player to sign with Dynamo this summer, joining ex-New Jersey Nets forward Bostjan Nachbar. They’ll play for American-born coach, David Blatt, who was hired to take ..."
Finley to re-sign with Spurs despite interest of others, sources say

Quote:
"After drawing interest from a few top contenders, including the NBA's new champions in Boston, Michael Finley has elected to re-sign with the San Antonio Spurs. NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Friday that Finley and the Spurs have reached terms on a new deal that has been submitted for league approval. Contract specifics were not immediately available, but sources say Finley's decision came down to a choice between staying with the Spurs or joining the Boston Celtics as the reigning champs' replacement for James Posey, who signed with the New Orleans Hornets earlier this summer. Sources say the two-time All-Star also drew strong interest from the Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers. ..."

Source says Ratliff, Sixers agree to 1-year deal

Quote:
"The 76ers could have a veteran backup big man in place as early as today. Theo Ratliff, 35, a veteran of 13 NBA seasons, has sifted through four offers and settled on rejoining the Sixers on a 1-year contract, according to a source familiar with the situation. The source said the 6-10 Ratliff could visit with the Sixers today and accept a 1-year contract for the veterans' minimum of $1.4 million. By the rules of the collective bargaining agreement, a portion of the salary would be paid out of a leaguewide pool. When asked yesterday about the search for an additional big man, Sixers president/general manager Ed Stefanski said he hoped to have a resolution "within 48 hours," but would not ..."

Iguodala signs 6-year, $80 million contract extension

Quote:
"ANDRE IGUODALA heard Jimmy Rollins call out Phillies fans, calling them front-runners."I was like, 'Damn,' because I knew what was coming after that, especially with what had been going on with him not running out [a play]," Iguodala was saying yesterday after formally signing a 6-year contract with the 76ers worth a reported $80 million."They scrutinize the small things here. The way I look at it, just play hard, just play well, all that is forgotten about. If he performs well, they'll forget about it."The thing about Iguodala is, he had been a Sixer for four seasons and wanted to stay. In many respects, he has been a quick study, on and off the court."It's been an even mix for me," he ..."
Dragic may not sign until September

Quote:
"On one hand, Goran Dragic is about to become one of the better-paid second-round picks in NBA history, once the Suns sign him to a contract normally reserved for lottery picks. On the other hand, Dragic is showing just how badly he wanted to join the Suns this summer by agreeing to a buyout that puts him on the hook for about three-fourths of his NBA rookie salary. Although his physical will be done Tuesday, Dragic may not sign with the Suns until as late as mid-September because of financial obligations he must meet with Tau Ceramica, his Spanish club. Once all the protocol is met, Dragic will sign a four-year contract that is similar to the one slotted for Suns first-round pick Robin ..."

After adding Magloire, Heat seeks point guard

Quote:
"Having shored up the team's depth at center by adding veteran Jamaal Magloire, Miami Heat president Pat Riley now shifts his focus back to Miami's other pressing roster need: point guard. Magloire emerged in Miami's search for a potential starting center late Friday and has agreed to a minimum-level contract in hopes of reviving a once-promising career. The Heat did not release terms of the deal Saturday but confirmed Magloire is expected to arrive in Miami on Tuesday. Magloire, a 2004-All-Star turned journeyman, was one of several veteran free-agent big men to work out for Miami in recent weeks. The Heat might also take the reclamation approach at point guard. Miami was among teams ..."
Knicks Stir Ghosts From Their Past by Acquiring Ewing Jr. From Rockets

Quote:
"If symbolism alone could change the Knicks' fortunes, then the minor trade they made Friday would make them instant contenders. In a deal with the Houston Rockets, the Knicks acquired Patrick Ewing Jr. - the son of one of their greatest players - in exchange for the rights to Frederic Weis, a towering symbol of the franchise's decline. A former star at Georgetown, Ewing shares his father's name and college pedigree, but not his athletic prowess. He will be a long shot to win a roster spot when the Knicks hold training camp in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., in October. A 6-foot-8 forward, Ewing was drafted in the second round, 43rd over all, by the Sacramento Kings in June. He was sent to Houston ..."

Donyell Marshall set to join Sixers

Quote:
"The 76ers have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent forward Donyell Marshall on a minimum salary contract, the Daily News has learned. Agent Andy Miller confirmed that Marshall is scheduled to meet with the Sixers tomorrow. It is likely that he will undergo a physical examination and sign a contract within the next few days. The Sixers have had interest in Marshall, 35, for many weeks, but bided their time while he remained under contract to Oklahoma City with a salary of more than $5 million. When the franchise that is transplanting from Seattle waived him in a buyout situation, the Sixers - in search of a perimeter shooter - made contact. A minimum salary for players with at ..."

Quote:
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Grizzlies signed free-agent center Hamed Haddadi, who played for the Iranian national team in the Olympics.

The 7-foot-2, 254-pound Haddadi averaged 16.6 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in Beijing.

The 23-year-old Haddadi spent the 2007-08 season playing for Saba Battery BC in the Iranian Super League.
