They should have got a QB in the off-season because Calvin Johnson is the future of the WR position

yeah for sure man. he gonna be pretty good for sure. they did try for Garcia tho..and i heard that they was tryin to get Josh McCown from the lions for like a 4th round pick or something and they wouldnt do it. that dude isnt worth it. Rattay isnt all that great either tho. they should have kept Aaron Brooks

If Oakland was smart, they'd recognize the fact that they have more needs than QB. Granted, QB might be their most glaring need, but they can always draft someone in the 2nd or 3rd round, or sign a free agent.
If I was Al Davis, I would trade the 1st overall pick to the highest bidder. I'd grab a bunch of draft picks, and maybe some players in the process, and I'd rebuild through the draft. If Davis is as great of a talent evaluator as he claims to be, he can work magic in the draft with the multiple draft picks he'd acquire by trading down. Getting a QB of the future with the 1st overall pick is hit-or-miss. Since the 1982 draft, the only three QB's taken 1st overall that have won a Super Bowl (as the starting QB) are Peyton Manning, John Elway, and Troy Aikman. That's Manning, Elway, and Aikman compared to Vinny Testaverde, Jeff George, Drew Bledsoe, Tim Couch, Michael Vick, David Carr, Carson Palmer, Eli Manning, and Alex Smith. Granted, Vick, Carr, Palmer, the younger Manning, and Smith still have chances to prove themselves. But Vick and Carr's time is running out. Fact of the matter is, patience is a virtue here. Oakland needs more than a QB. One man can't do it all. Not JaMarcus Russell, not Brady Quinn, not even a once-in-a-lifetime wideout like Calvin Johnson. |
