HELP- my broken ipod -EASY PROPS

this is my ipod:



the lcd screen cracked and it just stopped working all-together eventually.
now i plan on doing the 'wal-mart ipod swap' BUT..the only problem is that this ipod is engraved..(has 'juan two three' printed on the back)

sidenote:
Wal-Mart ipod swap (incase you dont know):
go to wal mart..buy a new ipod..put broken ipod in case..return broken one..keep new one..i win.

anyway, i was wondering if i should just return it as-is with the engraving..or should i buy a ipod repair kit and swap the silver casing from the new one to the old one..
-->i had planned on doing this, but i wasnt sure if anything was attatched to the silver casing (ie-the hard drive, lcd screen, battery, etc)

anyone know any info as to if this is just a casing..or if anything is actually attatched to it..?

THAT, actually won't work, because they scan the serial numbers, and if the iPod is open, then they'll check the serial number on the back. Your best bet is to replace the back covers with each other, that's if you know how to open an iPod, other than that, I really wouldn't chance it.

if i was you i'd just try to do it with the engraved casing and see what happens. half the time they don't check and if they do and they figure something is wrong you can go back and fix it so they'll accept it. It's not like they're going to arrest you.

Here is what you do.. Since it's a cracked screen.. do the walmart swap but with a little twist..


Buy a new ipod from walmart... take your old ipod apart, and open ur new ipod apart, and just replace both of the whole front side.. easy ass operation.. trust me

btw when you return, there should be no problems, cuz the serial numbers will still match, and they cant say shit..

Dawg i work at a store where we repair ipods fones w/e... and ppl come with lcd screens broken all the time asking for a quote and end up just buying a new nano. Ir's really not worth fixing it unless you have a special bond lol

thats why i dont wanna fix it, it's not worth it..so ill just swap it out with an ipod from walmart..

but yeah id do the walmart thing...dont have anything to loose...those are going for like 100 on ebay tho thats an option
