on the front of my computer there is a sticker that says all the info about my computer and it says i have 256 mb of ram and my computer is only reading 190. is there a way to fix that?

Thats actually a sign that either one of your RAM sticks (assuming you have 2 128 sticks in there) is bad. or if you have one 256 stick that RAM may be bad. or it could also be the motherboard that is bad. in either case one of the 2 will need to be replaced.

If you open your PC and find that you have capasitors on your Motherboard that appear to be leaking then its def a Motherboard issue.

You can also try moving the RAM sticks into another slot on your Motherboard. this process will most likely lead you to the culprit.

Some of it is probably being used as VRAM (if you have onboard graphics).

yea im assuming you have integrated graphics patho, what that means is that the video card is built onto the motherboard itself and doesnt have its own memory, instead it uses some of the computers RAM.

ok so i jus need to buy more ram prolly. and to capo my computer is only 2 years old but its a shitty ass emachines.

ye that wud be best thing to do anyways. 1gb of ram is like 30-40 bucks now

You have to get memory that is specific to your Motherboard. Your best bet is to look inside or use THIS PROGRAM to find out what RAM is already in your PC that way youll know what type it can take for sure. only thing you need to worry about is capasity after that. just because you can buy a 1 2 or 4Gig stick of memory doesnt mean that your motherboard supports that much and in that case you'd be wasting time and money. call emachines or go on their site and look up your model of PC to be sure of the specs before you purchase anything

dude it appears 190 cuz other shit is like useing it and always is gunna use it i was 2 gigs and it was up like 200 mb short...but yeah id deffinatly get a gig more and if you got money gt a 2 gig stick
