Question Updating a PC [Memory + Graphics Card]

Yo

I bought a Dell dimension 9150 just over a year ago and am looking to update it.

The current specs are:

-Windows XP
-2 processors running - Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz
-2GB Ram DDR2 (2x1GB)
-320GB HD
-NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS (GeForce 7900 GS)

Specs for the standard 9150 can be found here:
Specifications: Dell Dimension 9150 Service Manual

I want to upgrade the computer so it is able to handle the latest games like crysis. I was thinking upping the RAM to 4GB DDR2 (2x2GB). The dell site says the 9150 can handle up to 4GB.

And then changing the graphics card also. However im unsure which graphics card to get. I was looking at the SLI nvidia cards. But i dont think i have the correct mohterboard. Is it possible to put in an 8800 Ultra graphics card in my pc? I was thinking on something like the Inno3D 8800 Ultra 768MB PCI Express Graphics Card or maybe the BFG GeForce 8800 Ultra OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)?? But i am unsure about compatability.

Also looking to get a 1TB hard drive (external). Would there be any issues using it with my PC? I.e recognising such a large drive?

Any Help is much appreciated
Thanks

Windows XP only supports 3GB RAM. Your PC supports PCI-Express, so any PCI-E cards should work, as should a 1TB harddrive

Cool so the BFG GeForce 8800 Ultra here:
BFG GeForce 8800 Ultra OC 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

i could just switch with my existing graphics card? I wouldnt need to upgrade to a SLI processor would i?

Also u got a source about the 3GB limit on XP? all my google searches are saying that the max limit is 4GB.

Thanks

In order for xp/vista to read 4GB or more of ram it would have to be the 64 bit edition of xp or vista.

if ur gonna buy a 8-series nvidia card...it will under-perform as the card was built for directx 10 (vista) and not directx 9 (XP).....and there currently isnt a card on the market that can handle crysis and max performance (ie. everything max, including last resolution setting).....ur best bet is to upgrade to vista after SP1 comes out....get your extra memory and wait for a 9-series geforce card, as they are rumored to be released sometime this year...and about the memory make sure you are going to have enough slots to insert the memory.

ohh yeaa.....an 8-series card will take up 2 slots in your computer...and also make sure ur tower has enuff space to accommodate the card as the 8800 ultra iz just over 9 inches long

i dunno if this goes for your dell also but i got a xps 410 last year and i wanted to get a 8800 to run it but its not really recommended that you do cause the power supply is kinda shit so you could run the risk of it not working or something worst happening. just make sure its the the wattage to run a 8800 ima just get a 8600 and work with that for now.
