Ok so I never bothered organizing my music files untill I got an ipod last year and all the names of the tracks was messed up, missing or incorrect information and no album art. All of this never crossed my mind up untill I got the ipod so I wanted it all to look neat.
So I downloaded a free application called Mp3tag. I use it to relabel my mp3s and add album art. I usually just go to google images or amazon for the album art and go for the 500x500 sized images. For the correct track names, genre and year I either look on amazon or itunes for that information. It took the piss to add album art to 300 albums and tag the mp3s properly but it was worth it, there are other applications that do most of it for you such as collect the album art etc but I didn't know at the time lol but now I'm up to date with tidying my music collection n I still like to just use Mp3tag for any new albums I download. I haven't gotten round to sorting out my random music and singles yet so non of those are on my ipod or itunes, any suggestions on what I should do to organize single tracks for itunes, I use coverflow its orgazined by album artist so I don't really want random singles or mixed artist albums messing it up. |

I label all my music singles with "Mp3 Singles" album name. So all the singles will be in one folder when viewing it on the ipod. If you want to know what single is from what album, just type the name of the album in "comment" area of the tag.

Usually I download albums so they are already tagged n shit for me. But if I do have singles I put em in a folder thats inside my music folder. then i throw em into itunes and label the album singles.

I don't have an Ipod(Zune baby) but in my documents I have a folder for each artist who I feel like I'll have a lot of music from. For stuff that isn't on their cds I'll put it in a folder called singles. For my zune collection, I have it sorted by albums but for singles that aren't on cds i make an album called "Kanye Mix" or whatever artist it is, that way I'm able to find their songs easier.
