Ye get the cheapest new dualcore unless you're dreaming about alanwake and future games.
I play crysis with e6850, 8800gt AMP!, 2gb, 1920/1200 on high in vista -dx9 simulation- at 30-40 fps

this may be usefull, could save you abit of dough on newegg.com $80 saved

sorry dont have nothing to add but since we're on the subject would it make sense to get a quad-core if your not a gamer? you know just to be ahead of whats coming in the future or no?

It depends on the rest of the computer specs. If you have a really good CPU, but all other parts are outdated, then the performance increase won't be much.

Plus, games have to be coded to take advantage of Quad core and the only game that I know of that does that is Crysis.

arent quads and duals about the same price now so might as well get a quad so if u really get into wantin to trick out ur pc you can do overclocking and upgrades that really give you good numbers.
